What is Conflict Sensitive Journalism?

The news we report can be destructive for a community, by promoting fear and violence.
Or our news reports can be constructive, by making citizens better informed, and possibly safer, by also reporting on efforts to promote conflict reduction. This is conflict sensitive journalism. A conflict sensitive journalist takes no sides, but is engaged in the search for solutions. Conflict sensitive journalists choose their words carefully.

What is SCOOP Israel?

we are offering you a unique opportunity to get a glimpse into some of the most complicated and debated issues of conflict journalism. SCOOP aims to create a once in a lifetime experience for young journalists students by forming a diverse international networking group with students from all over the world and participating in dynamic activities while at the same time gathering professional information relevant for your future career as a reporter.

About Us

We're a group of 25 students from the Ben Gurion University of the Negev, studying various subjects, participating in the StandWithUs Fellowship. We believe that when it comes to media coverage of conflicts it is extremely important to create a balanced and professional picture. We feel that by encouraging the gathering of students with similar interests from around the world, we can promote this important issue and at the same time create an unforgettable experience.
